Wethersfield was very fortunate to partner up with the Kewanee United Way for the Shoes for Kids program. This program allowed students who qualified to have the opportunity to receive a new pair of shoes. The mission of this program was to provide students with shoes that fit, do not cause blisters and allow them to run and play. Wethersfield School District was able to provide 50 pairs of shoes for students.

This week, first-grade students had a fun time learning about apples! They started by reading How to Make Apple Pie and See the World, a story about gathering ingredients from different countries to make a pie. They also learned about Johnny Appleseed and read a non-fiction book all about apples. To celebrate, the students dressed up like Johnny Appleseed, wearing pots on their heads just like him! The best part was enjoying apple pie in a cup. While eating, they used their five senses—seeing, tasting, smelling, feeling, and even hearing the crunch of their treat! It was a fun and tasty way to learn about history, apples, and the world around them!

Sixth grade students got to meet with their Kindergarten buddies for the first time. The students got the opportunity to get to know each other prior to hanging out together for the Homecoming Parade. They played inside, outside, and had popsicles together.

Happy Homecoming Friday! Our parade will start at 1:15 this afternoon and kickoff tonight is at 7:00pm. We hope to see you all here for both!

Our HS Choir will be selling baked goods at our Homecoming game tomorrow night. All donations will be used to help cover the cost of their field trip in December to see Pentatonix.

Last year’s 8th graders (current freshman) are enjoying a sweet treat from their former science teacher, Mrs. Dana, as a reward for their entire class meeting and/or exceeding on their state required Illinois Science Assessment.

Our 2nd U-Crew day was a hit! Some students have already collected all 12! Students have done a phenomenal job fundraising out in the community. The PATT Fundraiser ends in one week!
