The first graders have been learning all about Veterans and Veterans Day this week and ended with a special presentation from two of our Wethersfield parents and former students, Arrick Juarez and Caleb Franklin. They taught us about the equipment they use, the jobs that they do, and even taught us how to do a push-up and salute. Thank you for your service!

Students in Ms.Gault's class participated in a percent composition trail. Students had to determine the percentage of one element's mass within the mass of the entire compound. For example, think of the compound as the cookie. They are determining the percentage of the mass that the red m&ms take, the blue m&ms, the dough and so forth. In chemistry, this can then be used to find the empirical (lowest number of atoms) formula and the molecular (the true formula- like glucose C6H12O6) formula. Do you think you could solve these problems along the trail?
