The HS Volleyball game tomorrow (Thursday) has been canceled as the opposing team has canceled school and their athletics. The team will practice from 2:15-4:00 tomorrow instead.
A-W SOFTBALL for Thursday, August 24th v. Kewanee Central has been canceled due to heat forecast.
Thursday night VOLLEYBALL versus Alleman has been canceled. We will be searching for a make-up date for this match.

3 game sweep at Bureau Valley. Freshmen win 25-22 and 25-18. Sophomores win 25-13 and 25-11. Varsity win 25-18 and 25-10.
We greatly appreciate your support as we deal with heat this week! We were hoping to avoid this extra week of heat dismissals as we have had in the past, but this long run of heat has prevented that. Classroom's were topping 80+ today by 1:00. Our JH/SR High School will not have air conditioning completed until summer of 2024, and we have pushed the limits of the little portable units. Please continue sending water/water bottles with your kiddos as we keep getting hotter. Thank you again!
A-W Golf Meets for Wednesday and Thursday have been CANCELED due to pending heat forecasted. Practices for the golf teams will be determined tomorrow and Thursday on actual heat conditions.

After spending the afternoon in the school buildings, it is evident that the building classroom air conditioning in certain sections will not keep up with 100+ heat indices. As such, we will be dismissing at 2:00pm each day this week. There will be no ABCD this week. Coaches will inform about changes in practice/games.
We are monitoring the anticipated extreme heat indexes this week. Most of our spaces are air conditioned, but 26 people in a room heat it up quickly, so we will watch inside conditions throughout the week and communicate the day before any possible early dismissals are planned. Student and staff safety are our #1 priority. Coaches will communicate practice and game changes/cancellations. Be safe.
