This week in Ms. Woller's class, they explored the life and work of the famous painter, Claude Monet! Using both a nonfiction text and a narrative nonfiction text, students learned so much about his life and had the opportunity to compare and contrast how the information was presented. To showcase their learning, everyone wrote a three-paragraph essay analyzing the two types of texts and sharing their knowledge of Monet. Then, to wrap up the week with some creativity, we channeled our inner Impressionists and painted our own versions of Monet’s Bridge Over a Pond of Lilies! Such a fun and engaging way to connect reading, writing, and art!

After 13 rounds, Jalie Nichols earned the recognition of being the spelling champion of the Junior High Spelling Bee. The winning word was gargoyles. Piper Achuff placed second, while Noemmi Taylor placed third. Congratulations on a job well done!

The Illinois High School Association recognized the 2024 Wethersfield Varsity Lady Geese Volleyball Team for achieving an unweighted team GPA during the season of 3.44. The recognition follows a 30-win season and another Regional Championship for our girls! We are very proud of their work on the court, but more importantly what each of these girls accomplishes in the classroom!

K-Kids worked on creating "Be an Upstander" posters for our school! An upstander is a person who chooses to speak up and support a person who is not being treated fairly. The K-kids decided to spread the word about how to be an upstander in our school!
English 1 students analyzed Elie Wiesel’s powerful poem “Never Shall I Forget,” reflecting on the darkest chapter of his life. Through tone, alliteration, theme, and symbolism, they explored the systematic dehumanization of Jewish people during the Holocaust.

Sophomore English students took the lead in an engaging activity exploring dystopia and utopia in Fahrenheit 451. Using critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application, they analyzed themes and events from the novel, drawing connections to today’s world.
Today, we kicked off our Junior Achievement (JA) lessons for our junior high students! Students will explore career paths and clusters while starting to plan for their futures. A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for making this program possible.

During the 2nd quarter, 8th-grade art students crafted charming gingerbread houses from popsicle sticks to build a festive winter village. Starting 3rd quarter, 8th-grade students took the project further by designing intricate snowflakes, creating a backdrop, and assembling the entire display to bring the village to life!
