Mrs. Gripp’s 3rd graders finished their informational paragraphs about Zimbabwe. The students had to read about Zimbabwe, determine what the challenges were for the children relating to having access to books, and then how they overcame this challenge. They did an amazing job putting this information into a paragraph!

Dear Wethersfield District #230 Community, As we have been discussing local traffic and school safety zones, I wanted to take a moment to address the "No Turn on Red When Children Are Present" signs posted at the intersection of Tenney Street and McClure Street. After discussions with Chief Kijanowski, it is important to clarify that this rule is in effect on school days when children are present and near the intersection. This applies when school children are in close proximity to the intersection, and there exists a potential hazard due to motorized traffic. It is NOT PERMISSABLE to turn right on red in the following situations: 1. Children are walking on the sidewalks leading up to and away from the intersection. 2. Children are walking on/in the street leading up to and away from the intersection. 3. Children are in the actual crosswalks crossing either street. It is PERMISSABLE to turn right on red with CAUTION in the following situation: 1. Children are present but are on school property inside the fenced property. Please be mindful of this rule during drop-off and pick-up times and help ensure the safety of our students by observing the signage. The safety of our children is our highest priority, and your cooperation in adhering to these traffic guidelines is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Sincerely, Dr. Brooks Superintendent, Wethersfield District #230
